SDCC Winter Championships 2009
Sunday March 29th
All students K-12th Grade are invited to play
3 Sections: Novice (rated under 600 or unrated)
Intermediate (rated between 600 and 1000 by USCF)
Advanced (rated over 1000)
5 rounds, everyone plays 5 games, win or lose. Clocks are not required, but their use is encouraged, especially in the Advanced section. The time control is Game in 30 minutes. Play begins at 10 AM and ends around 4 or 4:30 PM. There is a lunch break after the second round.
Entry Fee: $15 if mailed in advance to San Diego Chess Club, 2225 Sixth Ave, San Diego CA 92101. Make check to San Diego Chess Club even if you are including renewals for USCF. Walk up entry fee on day of event is $20 for players who don't pay in advance. Please try to do the advance entry as it makes it much easier for the directors, because then we don't have to try to sign up thirty kids or more all at once! Please try ensure the check will arrive at the club before the day of the event (Saturday at the latest). You can also email the TD, Bruce Baker at bakersandiego@cox.net if you want to see if he got your check yet. Later on we may post the advanced entries here. You can also call the club at 619-239-7166.
Trophies in each section, medals for most of the participants
Registration: 8:30 AM to 9:45 AM
Rated event: All players must be current USCF members or they can join or renew at the event (Usually $19 a year).
Bring chess sets and clocks if possible, but we do have equipment for sale on site if need be.
