Senior-Junior Open

Senior-Junior Open  4/13 - 4/14/2013

Two Sections in this event "Senior" (50 years old or more) and "Junior" (Under 50 years old).

$3,600 Prize Fund (based on 70 entries), 60% of all prizes are guaranteed.
5 Round Swiss.  $50 Entry fee if signed up by 4/12. Email chucnglo@aol.com

1st Place $300, 2nd Place $150, 3rd $50

Plus $100 for Best Over 60 years old, $100 for BU 20 years old
        $100 for Best Over 70 years old, $100 for BU 16 years old

Each player can win only one of the above prizes

Registration: 9 AM - 9:45 AM, arrive early for best parking on the street (mostly free)
Rounds: 10 AM, 2 PM and 6 PM on Saturday; 10 AM and 2 PM on Sunday
Time Control: All games are at G/100, d/10.
Byes: One bye allowed in rounds 1 through 4, no last round byes.
Entry Fee: $50 ($10 late fee on day of event, so sign up in advance by emailing chucnglo@aol.com )  Special rate of only $25 if U1300 or unrated and signed up in advance, Unrated are eligilbe for a book prize only. Forfeit any game means no prizes at all.
SCCF membership required, $18 adults, or $13 for under 18 years old.

Bruce Baker Simul/Open House

SIMULTANEOUS EXHIBITION BY CLUB CHAMPION/OPEN HOUSE on 4/10/13

This Wednesday April 10 our Open house begins at 6 PM. This mean there will be free munchies for club members followed by an entertaining simul by new Club Champion Bruce Baker. He promises to make it fun and let people talk a bit amongst themselves about possible moves etc. The simul will likely start around 7:15, but if you show up a little late, he still might let you join in, depending on the number of players already playing.

This weekend April 4/13 - 4/14 is the Senior/Junior Open. "Seniors" (players 50 years old or more) will be in one section, and "Juniors" (age 49 or less) in the other. 5 rounds or G/100, d/10.  Rounds at 10 AM,  2 PM and 6 PM on Saturday and 10 AM and 2 PM on Sunday. Entry fee $50 if signed up by Friday night (email chucnglo@aol.com ), special rate of only $25 if U1300. $3,600 in prizes based on 70 players (60% guaranteed).   

The following Wednesday 4/17/13 at 7PM we start a new tournament, the Kyron Griffith McMahon, all players will be in one section with Masters and Experts starting with 4 bye points, Class A with 3, Class B with 2, Class C with 1 and Class D and below with 0. Time control will be Game/2 hours with 10 second delay.

Super GM Timur Gareev Lecture

Super GM Lecture  2 PM Sunday 4/07/13 at SDCC

$5 donation requested. Timur Gareev is one of the highest rated players in the US and he is now hanging out in San Diego! Only Kamsky and Nakamura are rated higher! Attend this group lesson and learn more about the royal game.  Lecture will from 2 to about 3:30.
