Are there "Best Game" awards in this tournament? If so, how is the best game chosen? Are we supposed to be submitting our notation sheets?
ReplyDeleteYes, Chuck Ensey, (me) is offerring a $10 reward for Best Game in each round. This comes out of my own pocket so the final judgement is soley up to me. I view it as kind of a cheap lesson to go over a bunch of games and learn something in the process. Anyone can submit a game by giving it to me after the round, or emailing it to me at chucnglo@aol.com. I have been really busy the last few weeks so I still haven't decided on round 1. Bob Draper's game is certainly a front runner, he won with a Queen sac agaisnt Mario Amodeo. Also I was waiting for a few other submissions from some players who promised to send me a game. Right now we can't post the games on this website in easy to view java script like we used to do on the old website, but we are working on a solution. For now we will just post a few of the shorter games in text style on the site, as I did for Round 1.You can then enter them into your own computer for analysis by Fritz or whatever. I know this takes time, but it is the best we can do right now.
ReplyDeleteYou do not have to submit your games on a routine basis, only those games which you feel might be worthy of a best game prize. The exception is the Club Championship section where we try to collect all 8 games played each week.
ReplyDeleteAnd Chuck, that game of Bob Draper's against me (Mario A.) had several 'smaller' sacs before the queen sac (you can only sac your queen once! Oh, wait, unless you promote some more queens.) I haven't looked at the other games from round one, but it is rare to see a game with so fluid and flawless attacking moves like Bob found. It felt like I was playing a GM. The queen sac for mate was just the icing on the cake. I may still publish it on this site, especially if I can find a display that allows one to play through the game. Is there a device compatible with this site with such characteristics?
ReplyDeleteYes Bob's game is the winner of the Best Game from Round 1. And no we don't have a way to click thru the games like on the old site, that is a major drawback of this site and Rick is still working on a solution. Note: I was out of town for this round (Rd 3), so I was unable to collect any games. Please send me your game if your are in the Club Cahmpionship Section and also anyone else who thinks they have an intersting game from the other sections. Thanks Chuck
