Player of the Month for October 2008:
International Master (IM)
FELIX VILLARREAL
International Master Felix Villarreal easily won the SDCC Fall Swiss with an unbeaten score of 5-1 (a draw with NM Carl Wagner in round three and a bye in round five). It is wonderful to have a player of Felix's stature play regularly in the local club. Felix was on the chess Olynpic Team for Mexico and has a classical defensive style with deep positional insights but will drop a 'petit combinasion' on you like Capablanca if you let him.
Felix Villareal also teaches chess and has a number of his students also play regularly at the club with him.
CONGRATULATIONS ANAND
