Letters From Germany
Marc Duesterwald is a strong Master from Germany who visited our country and played at our club for about 6 months. It was fun having such a strong player around to give Cyrus and Bruce more competition at our Gambito Opens. Marc also tied for First Place in our 2007 San Diego Chess Club Championship. (John Funderburg won the trophy due to better tie breaks). Marc is now back in Germany, but has agreed to keep in touch and be our "foreign correspondent". He will send us games and other interesting tidbits from the Continent.
Here is his Round 4 game from his match with Dr. Carl Wagner: Wagner-Duesterwald
And here is a game from the Russian Team Championship that Marc found interesting: Morosewitsch-Miton
Here's another from a recent tournament: Duesterwald-Buecken
Keep checking back, we will add to this page on a regular basis...
Here is the latest from Marc, Duesterwald-Lamprecht played in September 2007
Feb 2008 update: Marc says he has been super busy with his new job, plus playing in many chess events, but he hasn't had any really good games to send us, however he promises to send some in March when things should slow down a bit for him...
